DC is currently at TJ and 4.0 weighted. His counsellor, who has been at TJ for a ling time, puts him in the top half of his class.

Is the counsellor worng?

Likely GPA of the applicant, so Junior year. 8th semester GPA is obviously not available when the offer/reject decision is made.

Does'nt the school profile list the GPA from end of Senior year? OP is quoting grades from Junior year. Top X% is always a mystery. Does anyone know if the Naviance shows the GPA from senior year too?

you are mixing up Credit and Weight-age
if course is listed as 1 / weighted +1.0
=> means course has 1 credit, and an A = 4.0 unweighted, and the +1 means, A = 5.0 weighted.

and so on. without that detail, cant determine weighted gpa

Anyway, in parentvue, if the weighted GPA is above 4.4 they are in top 25% for sure.

First year English, Bio, RS1 are all weighted as honors so that's 0.5. If you get an A, your GPA will be 4.5, A- will be 4.2 and so on and so forth. You can calculate yourself. You should be able to find the GPA in sis.
