But I don't see what you see. Monteleone explained the pre-existing funding, the loss in funds to support it, and the impact.
What is the problem?
Just adding, the specific question Jawando asked was "why" not "whether/if". Monteleone answered the question asked.
If you watched the full exchange and weren’t troubled by the way Damon answered the line of questioning, I don’t know what to tell you.
To be clear, it wasn’t the original question that Jawando asked that forced Damon to fess up to the cuts. It was the follow-up questions Jawando asked to whether MCPS had a plan for how it would distribute the stipend.
Damon tried to get away with not mentioning the elementary RJ coaches would be eliminated. Jawando forced him to admit that. Then Jawando forced him to acknowledge with his so-called strategy of focusing the stipends at the secondary level, that the funds requested weren’t enough to maintain RJ Coaches at ALL secondary schools, which Damon sheepishly conceded to.
I won’t even get into how Damon misstated the stipend at the secondary level as $4,000 rather than $6,000 and had to correct himself, nor how he was off by about $100,000 on the overall budget amount requested for RJ stipends that Essie had to correct him on.
