The NIH has an absolutely GLORIOUS bring your child to work day, with labs opening their doors to present their research and do fun age-appropriate experiments, campus events, movies, petting zoos, etc. My older kid went with my husband to dissect a cow eye, see the Da Vinci surgical robot in action, watch a movie; while I toured the mice facilities with my youngest. Years later, she still remembers the nest of baby mice she saw (she's aware of experiments done to them, obviously).
It's a dream come true for many STEM-minded kids.
Heck, they could have served up caviar for lunch, all paid for by us, American taxpayers. Nice of them to be so generous while making us pay for it. How about one of their super rich elites donate the funds?

It depends on your workplace. My workplace arranged a lot of educational activities for kids to attend and get to learn their future career options.

My DC didn’t get any permission slips. There is no mention of this day from principal email either.
This is when I wish the school system worked equally as a whole. This is a sentence from the permission slip. I think you’ll be OK if your daughter goes with you to work and you write a note.
The absence is excused; however, students are responsible for any work missed. If you complete this form, an absence note will not be necessary.”

Well, already received ES email to report this day and get excused absence. So the policy is only applicable to ES?
