Currently 95% of 26 years old or younger are still living at home.
This is a crazy statistics.
What will you do anything to change it?

Dumbest post I've seen in a while. And that is saying something.

This is my kid's home and always will be. They are welcome at any time, especially if it means they are able to get ahead (saving for money, overcoming health issues, going to school, whatever).

What is some of you peoples' obsession with kicking your kids out of the house? It's super weird.

And FTR, this is precisely what my parents did. And it was a long, hard road. Prevented me from savings, home, etc. for much longer than it would have with a little help. And that was 30 years ago. It's MUCH harder now.

Where are these statistics coming from? I've never seem them.

Where are you even getting these statistics?

In any case, asking what we are going to do about it is weird. I am in my 40s and don't live with my parents. My DH is also in his 40s and doesn't live with his parents. None of my siblings live with our parents. My nieces and nephews who are adults do not live with their parents.

My BIL lives with my MIL. I don't think he'll ever leave. I intend to do nothing about this -- I think it's bad, but it's not within my control.

The end.

What are you talking about? Change from what to what?

Are you saying that "something" is causing the potential rise in adult children not leaving the family home?

And it might be we are moving back toward a more multi-generational home. Beyond which, you can't really compare 26 year olds, since as a society more kids are getting not only undergrad degrees, but graduate degrees, keeping them in school longer. Many of those kids technically still use their parent's addresses. I know several who are in graduate programs and live near campus. But maintain the family home as their official address.

99.9% of DCUM posters are rational. However, you seem to fall into the 0.1%.

Aren't most adults at home unless they are homeless?
