+1 for Culinaria... my kids loved it when they were young teens. And the recipes they came home with are winners -- we still use many of them.

Nice folks.

Culinaria is good, and several of the classes I have taken had parent and teen attendees. They offer a pretty wide range of classes, some of which are demonstration classes and others which are hands-on. Knife skills is a good starting class.

I took a class at Cookology. It was a fun time and I had lots of leftovers.

My young teen boy took a cooking class in another country when we were on vacation and he just dove in with enthusiasm. Your son is very lucky, OP!

*Cozymeal; not Cozumel 🙄

I checked out Sur La Table. Looks great but the classes were more of a series and were more expensive than I’m looking at.

Does anyone have any experience with Cozumel or Culinaria? I feel like we’re in an awkward stage age-wise; too old for the “kids” class but perhaps not old enough for the regular ones. I’m having a hard time finding a class for teens (except for the week-long SurLaTable at $300.)

2nd this. We had a teen visiting us for a few weeks and I signed her up and she loved the class.

Thanks, everyone. Does anyone have any first-hand experiences with these places?

Cookology in Ballston has cooking classes. Not sure how they do with teens, but my elementary age kid went to a birthday party there and loved it.

I’d suggest a quality non-stick omelette pan, along with a link to or copy of Jacques Pepin’s viddo(s) on how to make a French omelette. Technically demanding but very fun to learn, fast and infinitely variable.

Looking to get a gift for a young teen boy who is interested in cooking. We are in the NOVA area. Preferably a gift certificate where they can select their class and/or cooking item if applicable. Would like to keep it at around $100. Thanks!
