Almost all schools are polling places, except for the newest buildings like Harriet Tubman and Cabin Branch, or schools with active construction like Poolesville.

We got this from our extended-day provider:

Primary Election Program Update - May 14, 2024

All MCPS facilities will be closed on May 14, 2024, for the Primary Election Day. This means all childcare programs inside schools or in modulars on school property will be closed.

So? School isn't childcare. Something you should have known well before pro-creating...

There are kids in warzones that will come out better than "my kid missed 6 months of school bc COVID" whiner parents.

Where do you vote? Figure out if your elementary school is a polling site. If it is, Bar-T won’t be open. But really, your Bar-T program already knows-ask them.

Not necessarily. There are plenty of schools where they can separate areas for voting, with gates or whatever, and kid programming can continue

The county can't have a school day with 1/2 the schools open, or with schools open at reduced capacity, but Bar T or whatever afterschool provider can run in the schools that can manage voting and having kids.

You need to ask the childcare provider, not assume.

Ask Bar-T what their plan is for that day.

Take the day off, take your kid/s to vote. Better lesson than sitting in a class all day learning "social studies."
