Alexa dot connected to spotify. My kid also uses it for waking alarm and reminders. It has the mic turned off all the time, he just activates it when he needs it.

I bought my middle schooler a Victrola record player on Amazon that is in a cute light blue color and about 10 albums. She listens over and over to the Taylor Swift ones. I think vinyl is having a comeback.

Super old school but got a cd player and buy my daughter CDs.

No electronics in bedroom at all.
She’s in middle school so will revisit this later.

Another vote for the Mighty! It's great, can fit in a pocket or be clipped on, requires no WiFi connection. Takes a little bit of time to transfer the files, but no longer than a few minutes.

We use the mighty too. It works well and has no screen.

I really wish Apple would bring back the iPod, I know so many parents who have said the same thing.

If you’re OK with her having an Alexa device in her room, she can play Amazon music on her dot. You can also connect other services like iHeartRadio and Spotify. She just needs to know the names of the playlist or artist she wants to play. You can control it from your phone butYou don’t have to. This is what we do with our daughter who is also compulsive with her phone.

My DD is 12 and is more compulsive with her phone. I'd like to limit her time with it until shes older, but one of the things she likes doing is listening to music.

I don't mind music, but she goes from phone, to computer, to tv, to music. The constantness bothers me. Plus sometimes she says she wants her phone for music, but then she doesn't. Or she listens to music on YouTube w videos.

I'd like some way for her to listen to music, no videos, with a wide selection. She's not interested in radio. And she has a record player, but wants more variety than what she owns.

Not sure if such a thing exists.
