This! Our team is gone 2x/month and local the other two weekends. I don't think only playing every other weekend is the norm

This is how kids get burned out.
Seasons are short. Our team also plays or practice every weekend but our season starts in April and ends mid-June. We don't play in the Fall or Winter.

We left our house before 9 am and returned home after 11.

Our team plays every weekend in some capacity. Some are weekend scrimmages but they have something every weekend. I don't understand teams that only play every other weekend at the AAU level where every player is dedicated to basketball.
