If they are in a serious relationship for 1+ years they stay in same room. If not separate rooms. I’m not checking on them at night.

college sophomores supported financially their parents aren't quite yet adults. and, assuming healthy and respectful relationships, even real adults should follow their parents rules/preferences when in their parents house.

The rules would be no different for gay or lesbian children. All prospective partners/spouses get the guest room. Only till there's a wedding ring on the finger or in absence of that, some kind of very clear "we are in a committed relationship but we're not the marrying sort" will they get to share a room.

Standards need to be maintained.

I'm fine with pre-marital sex between consenting adults, so all my college-age kids and their SOs can sleep wherever they want in my house when they visit. Regardless of sexual orientation, which has nothing to do with it (my kids are straight, bi, and gay).

This is a very material fact to have left out. Personally, I’d let them sleep in the same room again, given that you already did. Although, 100% you were tricked into it. But, this isn’t a fight I would have, given the history.

PS/ I think it is reasonable to have her gf sleep in a different room.

Give up and follow past precedent. Were there 2 beds in there before? If not, it was the wrong choice. If so, you're providing 2 beds still.

Idk,.. I understand why OP would ask here. I would wonder what queer adults had wished their parents had done. And this is distinctly different than a girl bringing home a girl who is only a friend; the sexual aspect makes a parent wonder whether to separate. I understand that. No need to scold OP.

I think the advice to offer two rooms and let them settle as they choose is nice.

If you have a guest room, offer it so your guest has their own space. Then let them decide where to spend their time.

My DD is a sophomore in college. Says she's bi and is in her first relationship with a woman. They go to different colleges and live two hours apart when they are each home. When girl comes to visit this summer same room or separate?
