We know three families who moved to Churchill (we've been at KG for 8 years). Two of them loved it- said the culture is less sports focused (particularly with boys) and they made great friends. They did mention that it's hard to have all your friends across town and I haven't heard how the transition to middle school was.
The third family switched back after two years in CRES. I don't think they hated it or anything, but they didn't think that it was worth the added headache.

I agree with others who said not too many kids move. My kids are all in AAP and have had plenty of math acceleration. I haven't really seen much advanced instruction in LA, and I honestly think they are doing the same LA curriculum for all or most kids at the school.

The AAP Center option for Kent Gardens is still Churchill Road. It’s just that several KG neighborhoods got moved to Franklin Sherman, for which Haycock is the AAP Center option, and another KG neighborhood got moved directly to Haycock.

Not many KG kids go to Churchill Road for AAP - about 25 in total this year. Most kids at Churchill Road go to Cooper but they’ll go to Longfellow.

We are lazy dad and mom. So we stay in KGES... Kids have more fun staying. Churchill has more rigorous and competitive study environment hence kids seem to achieve/learn more after a few years.

PP: I looked it up. I made a mistake, kids in AAP at KG for 23-24 school year where the base school is moving to Franklin Sherman have the option to go to Haycock for 24-25 school year or can stay at current school (KG or Churchill Road).

All current or new AAP students where KG will still be the base school for 24-25 can stay at KG or go to Churchill Road.

DD got accepted to the full time AAP Level IV at Kent Garden. She is not in French immersion at KG. I am trying to make a decision. Any folks here who did the move from KG to Churchill and if so, what factors made you make the move. And those who decided to stay at KG what factors made you stay?
