On the GBW site, the teachers who are qualified to teach AAP are listed as "Gifted Education Teacher". They have earned a gifted endorsement. There are no teachers on the GBE directory that have that designation, aside from the AART, so I am not sure who teaches the AAP classes or if they have the gifted endorsement.

He was teaching 6th AAP up until a couple of years ago. Since then he's been teaching 4th AAP at GBW. He's wonderful.

GBW is an awesome center school. Hands down recommend it.

Also, I know it's the same curriculum. But if the whole class is AAP and it's a center, are they able to apply the curriculum differently? Gbw seemed very creative, but I'm not sure if that's just part of what AAP is or because gbw is experienced and have all level 4

My son is in 3rd this year and the teacher is just amazing. You can tell she is a pro with advanced learners, including the quirky ones. We are happy with the level of challenge and use of AAP curriculum. My son is sooooooo excited to have Mr. Smith next year.

GBW mixes all kids for specials starting in 4th.

GBW used to have a BIG center program, but additional centers opened so they were down to 2 feeders. Then both Colin Powell and GBE started LL4 programs. So GBW’s full time AAP numbers have dropped. It’s easier to have a robust full time program at the upper grade levels if you’ve got two classes and teachers can departmentalize and/or co-plan the AAP curriculum, so my understanding is they’re trying to make sure they keep both sections in 5th and 6th.

Also most of them have been teaching AAP there for awhile and probably want to keep doing it rather than have to change schools.

I quickly checked the feeder schools to GBW AAP program and Colin Powell seems to be retaining a lot more AAP level 4 kids which is probably why GBW numbers are going down. GBE doesn’t seem to have a significant AAP 4 population and it’s new.

That said, the teacher makes the most difference in a child’s learning journey. Did you meet the prospective teachers at both?
Did you connect with the existing parent moms of GBW and GBE AAP 4 and get their take?

I want her to enjoy learning, trying to understand if since GBW is more experienced there's a more fun/ creative learning environment. If that makes sense

No information about the school but I assume my child will do well whether local or center based on my child. So I am selecting the program that has the best schedule and convenience for us, so best bus schedule. That was most important to us. Figure out what’s most important to your family

Hi my daughter was accepted to AAP for 3rd grade. We have to choose between moving her out of GBE and into GBW or keeping her at GBE. GBE program is new, 3 years old. GBW is more established. GBW has 1 AAP class for 3rd, the and then 2 for 5th and 6th. GBW did a great presentation on promoting their program, and how much they offer. But we're trying to sift through the marketing. What do they gain if we go there? Why do they want folks to switch to them so bad? GBE numbers appear to be growing, whereas GBW school population numbers seem to be going down. Also, at GBW. My daughter would be with all / only AAP (25 kids) only for 2 years for all subjects. GBE she would be mixed with all levels for non AAP and AAP for the main subjects . Any opinion on the two schools/ programs?
