You aren't taking someone else's spot, you would decline the offer.

We went to an ID session and at the sign in table one of the player goes 'Why do I need to sign in, I already got my offer and accepted'.

I asked the same question several years ago and was told it was crappy to go to tryouts if you aren't really planning to switch.

I think it's helpful to see what else is out there, and also good for kids to get experience with tryouts, especially when there's not much at stake.

We did that on a whim last year and wound up with a better offer and wound up making the switch despite being completely happy with their club at that point.

I can tell you our club has given everyone on the A team an offer and our try out date is set for end of April.

Never trust that word of mouth BS from the coach. Always have something in your back pocket.

They never can tell after all the new kids show up at tryouts. I have seen so many kids and families get burned after tryouts are over and the kid is bumped down or cut.

Sometimes you need to beat the nearby competition by sending out offers super early to beat their tryout schedule.

YES! If you are on a first team offers should have already been sent before tryouts. The coach for the following year should have already been in contact with you.

That aside going to tryouts is great for all players. It is a great skill and i encourage all kids to do this. Not only will it help you understand where your child is developmentally in another organization but what they could possibly need to work on.

We already have an offer and we are still trying out. We arent going to move clubs but it gets your kid out there and the more coaches that see them the better.

Yes, if you haven't received an official offer I would say go to the tryouts. However, many of the teams already have formed their roster for next season and might only be looking to fill a specific position.

Absolutely.

Some kids go to tryouts just to get extra practice in. If they make a team, they may consider, but it's really just a chance to play
