SWIFT (microwave) treatment got rid of mine. Sadly it is extremely expensive.

There's both regular and extra-strength bug juice as my derm calls it. Switch derms for sure -- that's a ridiculous amount of money to pay for something that's not working.

What really worked wonders for me to get rid of a plantar wart on the sole of my foot that I'd had for literally decades was a compounded ointment of salicylic acid and 5-fluorouracil. It's heavy-duty stuff and you have to be super-careful about taping off areas around the wart because it will take healthy flesh right off, but it killed the wart I'd had since I was 8 (and I'm now 55).

I'd still start with bug juice for my kid, but know that this is an option (and you need a new derm who will pursue new options).

I didn't get this brand name but I think this is basically the same medication formula my doctor prescribed, although mine was in a cream not a glue base:

OP here. The podiatrist didn’t offer beetle juice. Only cutting, freezing, or lasers. Maybe I need to switch. Tried duct tape for a long time and it didn’t work. Freezing did work years ago for my other child. So frustrating.

Duct tape work for my son when nothing else did. First I bought the home freeze stuff then wrapped the wart in duct tape. Every two days I took off the duct tape and gloves and with a disposable mail file I filed wart. Then washed the area. Put liquid wart remover and put new duct tape for 2 more days. Repeated for 3 weeks and wart was gone.

Have the podiatrist paint that beetle juice stuff on the wart- cantharadin. I had tried absolutely everything for my own planters wart. It got so bad I couldn’t walk on it anymore. One dose of that and it was gone two weeks later. The beetle juice makes the skin blister (it’s painless) and the blister forces the wart out. When my dd had a plantars wart years later- one dose of it and the wart was gone. I have heard similar stories from quite a few other people and I haven’t heard anyone say it hasn’t worked immediately

This helped a stubborn palm wart when multiple freezing sessions and a pricey prescription wart cream didn't work. One treatment and it was gone. Wasted a year and lots of money trying everything else.

DD had a persistent wart on her finger. Dermatologist cut the wart off and it hasn't come back.

Nail polish. Worked for me.

I’m not sure what treatment DS had, but I don’t think it was freezing, it was some kind of acid, then the podiatrist would scrape them. It did take several weeks. My sympathies for your high deductible plan- I have one too.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this, OP. I had warts on my fingers for a few years. I did OTC everything. Eventually, they went away on their own. I don’t know why.

Laser treatment isn’t near as effective as the beetle blistering agent. I would try that before I spend $400

Did the laser on my son’s foot. One treatment and it subsided immediately. You won’t regret it.

Have spent a bloody fortune trying to get rid of DD’s warts on each heel. With our insurance (HDHP) it’s still $149 every time I take her to freeze them, which is every 3 weeks. We are well over $1k now. In between visits we’ve used every OTC product imaginable. They do get smaller but don’t leave.

Help! The doc has a laser treatment that is $400 per time, and I asked would this definitely work and she said “no guarantees.”
