You could just buy a bunch of boston ferns and snake plants or other hardy tropical plants like palms and keep them outside in the warm season without any extra work from you. As long as they get rained on occasionally they'll be fine. They're big and atmospheric.

Trash them in the fall and next summer start over. Boston ferns are like $12 at home depot and big palms $20 at ikea. If you overwinter them you'll need to water them regularly.

Except the snake plant. I haven't watered mine since i brought it inside last fall and it's totally the same as before.

No plants are much better than artificial plants. Don’t bother. They look tacky, fade and are useless.

Put them in a sunny window indoors. They do not need too much water during their dormant periods, but they do need some. Maybe once a month.

Hi - we have a second home with a lovely deck and a pool that could use some potted plants; however, we are not there enough to keep them alive.

Can anyone recommend artificial plants/potted trees/etc that are meant for the outdoors (including rain) and will provide some nice ambience?
