Different Poster. We love FH! My oldest went through AAP there and my youngest is currently in AAP there. The teachers are fantastic! No regrets keeping them at FH!

I am considering the after school activities too. Are Odyssey of Mind or Science Olympiad selective? Or it's like you sign up and you can participate?

Westbriar has odyssey of the mind, science Olympiad, chess club, CML, MOEMS, AMC8 and Mathcounts.

Both my kids stayed at FH for AAP. Both did very well and my 8th grader was just accepted into TJ. Would they have gotten a better education at Westbriar? No one knows. We stayed for the community and have had a positive experience.

I could have written a similar post. Really love FH and have loved the AAP teachers. The 6th grade AAP teacher esp. really prepares them well for MS. My MS did very well in MS AAP and will be taking all honors in HS. Her FH teachers still ask about her. I will say the only disadvantage is that the kids are with each other for 4 years and there is very little change with classmates (unlike a center where they switch the kids up bc there are more designated AAP classrooms).

I am PP. It varies by year. Not all of the classes have 20. That was just my experience with my kid.

Not many. It varies by year and kids get in after 2nd grade. So the population of AAP kids is greater by 5th/6th grade. My oldest was at FH a few years ago and based off course registration the majority of the class did not have to pick Honors vs Regular because they were AAP. The few kids who I know were principal placed were high achieving students.

There's a similar thread on stenwood v. Westbriar. I think the same arguments apply.

My DD is eligible for full time AAP at Freedom Hill ES. We have the option to stay or transfer to Westbriar. Would like to hear any thoughts comments on both of the AAP program?
