Oh, except one thing OP. I don't give consequences for taking everything I say literally. I think that's a generally young tween issue, and we just talk through it. But weird noses and really obnoxious jokes? If you don't stop, you can do the sweeping up after dinner.

Verbally, and if it doesn't stop I find extra chores are an effective consequence.

My older DS (9) just has so many annoying behaviors right now. The things he's doing aren't "punishable" offenses... more like constantly making weird noises, talking about skipidi toilet, taking everything I say 100% literally.

Do you try to correct any of this stuff with your kids? Ignore?
