Subject: Anyone close to in-laws after divorce?
I liked my in laws, and they liked me. There is mutual respect all around with ex and ex in laws. But no, I don't communicate with them. Ex MIL reached out a couple times after in a respectful way that welcomed but didn't demand a response; however, not engaging with them has continued to feel like the right thing for me personally.

I always liked my in laws and want them to be part of my kids lives. I think I’m better at doing that than my ex so I don’t get any pushback.

The best thing about divorce is never having to speak to them again

But I think if everyone’s local it’s more common.
You married him.

DH’s mom is still close with his exW. They talk weekly and meet up once a year. I think they genuinely like each other. DH doesn’t speak with his exW (they didn’t have children) and asked his mom to stop giving him updates on his exW.

I like my inlaws, and they like me. We wish each other happy birthdays and Christmases. We comment on or like each others FB posts. I remind the kids to facetime on their birthdays. I had them over for Christmas dinner.

My parent's in law were already passed away when I got divorced, my sister's in law made no attempt to maintain our previously cordial relationship after I left their brother, but a few years later they reached out and we are friends now, but then I'm also friends with my ex.
