People are giving incorrect information. If you read the policy, the rule about zeros only applies for all tasks assignments. For practice and prep, teachers can do whatever they want. My son’s math teacher for instance will not accept any late homework because she goes over the homework in class, so you either turn it it at start of class, or get a zero. My understanding is that this is permitted for practice/prep assignments.

Yes they can, but many hoops have to be jumped through to do so.

What are the hoops? Curious as this had large impact on my child last marking period. Submitted two days late and had an attempt.

Did your child get a zero or just points docked? Technically, teachers are not supposed to give a zero until the end of the marking period, and after attempting communication with both the student and a guardian.

I’ve given a lot of specific information. Thank you! If you are right teacher did not follow policy. And yup a zero.

Just good practice for college where professors aren’t going to coddle your kids like public schools do.

One assignment alone in the 10% category cannot have a “large impact” on the quarter grade. If the grade was borderline and the single missing assignment would have tipped it up a grade, it’s not the HW assignment that had a large impact. It was the other assignments in the 90% category that were low grades that had the impact. Let that be a lesson to always turn in HW on time.

For Practice Prep is it 10 percent marked down or can they give zeros? Can the teacher say due date equals deadline and give zeros?
