What was the sonogram for?

I’m 48, I was regular at 24/25 days for a long time, but this is what the last 9m look like
27/32/32/22/23/28/58/39/28

No illness or anything out of the ordinary, was hoping that 58 was the end 😂

Seems like perimenopause to me, keeps you guessing, that’s for sure! Although I will say I definitely have symptoms of ovulation, and ovulation to period is still always 2w.

PP^^ Sorry, forgot to answer the second half of your questions.

I did get my FSH tested in 2020, and when my doctor saw it she said it Indicated I was "postmenopausal." So although menopause is usually defined as one year with no period, apparently they can call you post menopausal based on your hormone levels. But I see why they generally prefer to call it at one year without a period because hormone levels go up and down, and can do so, like mine did, for years. The only reason she tested my FSH was that I saw her because i was almost passing out, and mentioned my hot flashes at the same appointment. I'd been almost passing out because of my diet (which was WW, losing about 1-2 pounds a week, but your body can start to freak out when you have been in a calorie deficit for a year and a half apparently).

This might be surprising to some people, but in medicine, having irregular periods means having cycles that sometimes last less than 21 days or sometimes last more than 35 days.

Therefore in perimenopause, when cycles gradually start to shorten by a few days, it's not considered irregular. It's a normal progression.

After that phase, there usually comes large swings when a period could be missed, followed out of the blue by a huge amount of period bleeding. Cycles can shorten then lengthen. This is when you need to consult your Gyn, since it could be caused more nefarious things than perimenopause (fibroids, for example).

I would call your Gyn, just in case, OP, knowing that it's probably just perimenopause advancing inexorably.

I am 49. My GYN said it is normal for periods to spread out (more time in between) but that if they get closer than normal she wants to know about it and check it out.

i mean if i went to the doctor every time my cycle was out of whack in my 40s i would have been there 6 times a year. now 49 and have cycles that last 16-38 days when bleeding for 5-10 days each time....always guessing!

Count your blessings. I’m 52 and they now last 2 weeks.

For a couple months last year I had a period every two weeks. It was miserable but I didn’t go to the doctor assuming the start of menopause. Things have gone back to normal now.

Around 43/44.

I’m 43 and my period came 2 weeks early the past 2 months. I can’t get in w my doctor until June but now I’m concerned to hear your doctor sent you for a sonogram. I figured cycles get wacky in perimenopause

I'm also 48 and the last year or so My cycle was shorter every other month; the last maybe 6 months I've been regular, but about 4 days shorter cycle than usual. So I'm getting my period about every 3 1/2 weeks now.

When did your period become irregular? I’m 48 and my period came two weeks early several months ago. Dr sent me for a sonogram, normal results. This week it’s two weeks early again after months of a normal cycle. If/when this has happened to you, did you go rushing to the doc for testing? I’m not on bc.
