We certainly had ugly episodes of this from teens through early 20s. I don’t think it is normal for it to be an ongoing response to every little frustration. I’d advise a new therapist and an exhausting sport or exercise classes.

My kid will be 19 in a few days and he hasn’t acted like that is years. There was a brief period around age 15 when he was a bit hormonal but it passed fairly quickly.

Oh, I'm PP and I couldn't slam doors or yell either in my parents' house, but I sure wanted to. Something changed and I compare it to being in a tumultuous sea and suddenly waters calmed. I actually noticed that I was different.

Three months after it started. We got super strict and enforced rules and the kids learn their hormones are not an excuse from behaving properly.

I have a 14 year old and a 16 year old and I can’t remember the last time one of them had a rage fit.

They aren’t always happy with the decisions I make and may tell me I’m unfair, or don’t understand or that I’m the strictest mom ever or whatever. But they don’t rage fit about it or slam doors.

How old is your teen?

Gawd I hope it doesn't last until 19. My niece was like this in HS until around 18-19 too but is now a very sweet person once again.

This is normal for my kid with ADHD/Anxiety. Its not normal for my kid who is neurotypical. Keep an eye on it.

DD is crying and screaming at every little thing. Dad's 10 minutes late to pick her up? She goes into a rage fit? We tell her she can't go out and see her friends? Rage fit, slams the door, says she hates us. Everyone, including other parents, therapists, keep telling us this is perfectly normal. Is it? If it is how long did it last for your child? I'm used to a pretty peaceful household so this is really painful and causing everyone else a lot of stress.
