Op here. I agree that Aiden was the best person of the men she dated. Just completely not for her.

I felt like Berger being jealous of her was a phase. It was a real life problem. In real life, big wouldn't have married Carrie and she would have ended up in a relationship with someone like Berger in an imperfect but real relationship.

Relationship is all about him, what he wants to take from it, and only as much as he’s willing to give to it. Another poster is right that Carrie does have terrible taste in men. I still like Berger best.

That's how relationships are like with high-level creative men. It was unrealistic to expect a global art superstar with bases on several continents to work around the needs of a midlevel writer. He operates on a completely different level from her.

I thought he was a grumpy dud. To me she deserved Big: a not so great rich and shallow guy to match her not so great wannabe rich and shallow self.

My only contribution to this post is to note that Ron Livingston does not age.

He is on Loudermilk right now and looks the exact same.

I'm not sure I agree with your premise, OP, but *I* would rather end up with Berger/Ron Livingston than any of the others.

I love the actor and agree and frankly, the post it note break up was immature and SO WAS CARRIE. We could all totally see her breaking up with someone via post it.

None of the guys she dated were good. Aiden was the best but they were a terrible fit. Big was an ahole. Berger was annoying. Petrovsky was a jerk. She had terrible taste in men.

Absolutely not

I get that Big was endgame. I even rooted for her to end up with him because she would have been miserable if she didn’t.

But I actually think Berger was her most realistic boyfriend on the show. They had real differences of opinions that they had to work through (or not).

I was not an Aiden fan. Carrie and Aiden were like oil and water. Aiden was like that chair that she bought in his store- a handsome, rustics thing that was completely not Carrie.

Carrie also did not really work with big. Their relationship was toxic. Promoting that dynamic - and waiting around for that person until ones late thirties - as idylic probably messed up many Gen X’ers and millennials who came of age watching the show.

Berger was immature. But I always felt under appreciated and was probably more like who Carrie ultimately would have ended up with in real life.
