Blue Ridge School
Woodberry Forest

Woodberry Forest is an excellent school, and it's only a few hours away. The campus is beautiful and the facilities are exceptional. Blue Ridge is a middle of the road school academically. The facilities are in desperate need of upgrading and the course selection is sparse.

The tuition is almost exactly the same, so if your son can get accepted to Woodberry, it would be a no brainer.

BL has emerged as a strong school with strong students. In the past it had a reputation for taking boys that needed more support, but that is no longer the case.
Boarding facilities are lovely.

Mcdonogh has boarding but only during the week. Kids come home on weekends.

BL is known as a school for boys who may need academic help. It isn't on the same level as Gilman.

Boys Latin is fine for a student with more A's than B's

As noted above, boarding option is very new - mostly international with a few non-local lacrosse players sprinkled in

McDonough has a more established boarding component but is co-ed. Woodberry Forest in central Virginia is an all-boys boarding option (where B's are also likely to be fine)

Any reason you need to have it in MD? If you want boarding, wouldn’t that open up a wider area of schools to look at?

Boys Latin, Gilman?

First of all, Gilman is not a boarding school.

Second, Boys Latin just added boarding in the past few years with a focus on international students.

Neither of them are established boarding schools.
