During the week I relax in the morning then go to exercise class 5 times a week, I love preparing some healthy lunches that I never had time to do before, I'll also run a errand or two. During the week I also take care of my elderly parent who lives alone and one of my adult children who has a chronic illness. There are of course dr appts that we are going to and I like to look at my investments. I love to read during the day or watch a movie. I will call a friend or go for a walk with a friend about two times/week. My life was too busy before and is still so busy! I prefer not to go out with friends too often, as I am still recovering for working for so long and I prefer to be alone most days. We also have a 2nd home that we travel to and making travel plans is time consuming. I took 2 online classes this winter that were very interesting.
I imagine if I didn't have to care for 2 other adults I'd have more free time on my retired hands.

Op, how are your weekends? Are you happy on the weekends, have friends and socialize?

What social value do you get from work? You can get it volunteering or in a hobby club or hobby job.

I'm single retired parent to elementary school child. Not quite ready to go traveling yet.
I try to exercise, meet up with friends who are off, read, keep up with market. Visitors are coming next week so plenty to do.
It's nice not to have to get myself dressed for work.
Dating, signing up exercise class, and part time book store or second hand store job would be nice.

If we're not traveling, I have plans at least five days each week though not always weekdays. Most of them involve others through volunteering or classes or plans with friends. Sometimes I do errands with friends, or DH or by myself.

I feel like my world broke wide open. All the things I never had time for, I now DO have time for. I get together with friends for lunch or dinner or drinks 2 or 3 times a week. Then DH and I get together with couple-friends at least once a week.

I am not retired yet. But isn't this up to you? Sign up for an exercise class, phone a friend and ask them to lunch, have dinner out with your spouse. Don't let life happen to you, live the life you want.
