Capitol View Park and Forest Glen neighborhoods.
The only neighborhood in MD that I feel is TPish is North Woodside in 20910. Lots of bungalows, iiberal folks.
The other 20910 neighborhoods are like TP in terms of being welcoming to OP's family, but without the bungalow aesthetic. Housing stock is pretty tight though.
