Got pregnant with my first natural cycle IVF at 38, tried 3 times for DC#2 starting at 39 but finally got success on Nat cycle IVF try #4, a month shy of my 41st bday. It's possible if you are committed to keep trying, you just have to wait for the best egg!

after two years of trying with iuis and ivfs, i got pregnant at 41 on my last ivf with my own eggs as i was about to go through the donor process. i guess i had at least one good egg among the many bad ones, but there seem to be more good eggs for some over 40 than others. everyone seems to know at least one person who has done it, but i dont think a lot of people really confess that they used donor eggs. for one thing, once you have the baby, it feels completely part of you and i am told is not an issue anymore. additionally, it is a private matter that doesnt seem appropriate for everyday conversation. the one thing that kills me is all the movie stars in their mid 40s having babies, as i have to believe that many use donor eggs and i think it gives everyone the impression that getting pregnant at 40 is simple when in fact it is extremely difficult for most.

I don't think it's a given that you have to use donor eggs at age 43 and above - it just might take longer to find your good egg. Good luck to you and I hope you have success!

My friend got pregnant at 42 with her own eggs... on her 9th IVF cyle! It was her 2nd cycle at Cornell, though. She felt the stimmulation was finally done right and had blasts for the first time. I'd recommend at least consulting with either Cornell or Colorado.

Another successful 41 y.o. I got pregnant my second IVF cycle using my own eggs. I went to SG and there was no mention of using donor eggs. Some of this will depend on your history - - at the time I met with my RE I had a 4 yo DC conceived naturally; that I had a previous DC boosted my chances a bit. Then there are all the other diagnostic tests. It is certainly not a given that over 41, 42 you will use donor eggs.

I got pregnant right before 42d birthday with my 5th IVF cycle. I was going through fertility treatments with a lot of obstacles: I was down to one ovary after surgery to remove a tumor, I had undergone six months of chemotherapy at 39, etc. Two RE's told me to give up and I was ready to, but my husband said no, we'll try one more time. I had a healthy, beautiful DS at 42. Fast forward to March of this year (three years later), I found myself unexpectedly pregnant naturally at 45! I just turned 46 last week and my due date is in November--everything has gone great so far. I thought our first child was a miracle, but this is truly our miracle baby. I am almost hesitant to share this story as I think it is likely an aberration, but it is possible even in difficult circumstances.
I hope you have similar success--it is very difficult to know when to give up on IVF.

Yep, got pregnant on my first IVF cycle at 41.5 years old. It's not correct to determine things solely by your age. Plenty of people 41 and over have used their own eggs. It all depends on the quality of your eggs and how well you respond to the stim medication (and the quality of your partner's sperm). Your age is not the only determining factor.

using donor eggs? If so, how many rounds did you go through? I've been told that almost all mothers 42 years and above are using donor eggs. I'm starting to question whether I want to go that route. Thanks!
