They do not accept very many students. Not sure how many apply, but it probably has a lower acceptance rate than the regular admissions.
However, the admissions is run by a different group, so top math and science students who did not get their achievements looked at by the regular admissions can get accepted now.

Those who missed the bus last year can still apply. The applications just opened, I believe they close in late May. The details are on TJ website. Someone posted the link above.

The TJ admissions office tries to keep the process under tight wraps. They do not advertise it at all. Keep checking the website.

OP here. Thank you so much for the information.

DD's friend applied and got accepted last year. She was very bright, with excellent academics and extracurricular activities and really wanted to go to TJ. She was waitlisted through the regular Freshman admission process. She applied next year as a Sophomore and got in. She is thriving there. I believe the admission opens in May. TJ website should have all details.

Not OP, but the term is not stupid. These students are routinely referred to as Froshomores in TJ lingo.

My friend's son had applied to TJ last year as a Freshman but did not get through. He is planning to apply this year as a Froshomore (Sophomore at TJ). Does anyone know typically how many students are offered admission? I have heard the numbers are very low but was not sure.
