I think that’s the right order.

Um, yeah. One of the most dangerous cities in the U.S.
The area of memphis (midtown) that Rhodes is in does have a lot of crime. I don’t know recent stats but Memphis has a high rate of violent crime as well as carjackings. I hate to say this because Rhodes is a great school and I love the campus and beautiful buildings. But I grew up within walking distance of Rhodes and know many who went there and I’d be hesitant to send my kid there due to the crime in the surrounding area. Just being honest. My parents still live in Memphis and I worry about them a lot.

Anonymous wrote:Crime is rare on campus, which is fully gated with only two entry points, both manned 24/7. My kid and I felt like it gave the place a boarding school feel, which was a big turnoff for my kid. Not to mention, the surrounding neighborhood is a different story when it comes to crime. Not somewhere a single female wants the sun to set on her.
Have you looked at Sewanee? It has a lot of similarities to Rhodes, including the architectural look of its campus, but it's set on something like 10,000 acres instead of being walled into a questionable urban area. My kid loved it but ultimately decided it was a bit too far from city life, so she chose another LAC.
