I have a lot of empathy for the teachers. They are not given a lot of time during the work week, are forced to teach many sections that are overcrowded with students and then deal with a ton of late assignments that the nice ones accept. My cousin is a teacher and she works so hard.

I don't know why school districts can't build more planning and grading time into their schedules.

I think there are just too many assignments. That's supposed to make things less stressful for students by having each one be worth a smaller %, but in practice it's overwhelming both for teachers and for students who care. My son was sick for 4 days and still has some "missing" assignments from then, despite turning everything in that he was told to (for example, a teacher told him he doesn’t need to turn something in because he was sick, but then didn't realize that automatically gets rolled over to "missing" because it somehow can't just be excluded from the calculation). Thankfully they're small ones that don't affect his grades but it can still be frustrating. Sometimes teachers also just put in the wrong grade by accident. Not a huge deal and it can happen, but it's more frustrating for both students and teachers when there are so many things to keep track of and monitor. And I don't think it really helps with better retention of the material and such.

DC has a different grade in assignment view than in the default weekly view.

yep. Gradebook was down for a bit yesterday. If we had more time, we would absolutely get grades in faster.
