My teen just turned fifteen and is enrolled at public school as a 10th grader. However due a combination of factors (including prior homeschooling and some dual enrollment credits,) she is on track to graduate next year just after her 16th birthday.
While she is certainly intellectually ready for college coursework, she's hoping for some positive social and personal growth experiences before graduating HS, and we're brainstorming ways to slow the process down a bit somehow.
I'm wondering if there are any semester or year-long programs for high school students -- prior to high school graduation, and before turning 16 -- that are interesting or worthwhile experiences that could also have the effect of putting the brakes on a very accelerated HS curriculum. (E.g. finished first college writing classes at 14, ready for multivariable calculus at 15.)
looking for in-person programs, travel could be ok, would likely need (and qualify for) significant financial aid to make almost anything work
I guess ideal would be something that is accredited as a HS program. Would actually prefer something where she didn't earn college credits because she does not want to have to apply as a transfer student before she has her driver's license.
Thanks!
