Alexandria and SYC hate each other, and SYC and lee Mount Vernon hate each other so I don't think it's going to happen.

Alexandria/lmvsc/gunston could probably work but those 3 clubs can't work with each other. Alexandria leaving mlsnext for ecnl would probably hurt the boys side and probably strengthen syc. Alexandria would probably never do it unless it had the majority of the power since it currently holds the larger number of teams/players on the travel side. Good luck getting the other leaders to agree to that. These leaders continue to stifle their own club's growth.

Ecnl national, that is. Ecnl regional can always absorb more clubs. The level ranges between ncsl division 1 and the very worst ecnl- national league teams, which are still full of future college players.

No other new ecnl teams are going to be springing up in Northern virginia.. there is one program in each county, and it's going to stay that way for a very very long time.

That is not at all why brave and union had to merge.

I think another Ecnl club in nova is possible in the next two years. It was not the number but the performance.

More clubs leads to dilution of talent which then leads to poor performance on the National level. These teams are not strong outside of Virginia.

If they did give Northern Virginia another spot in the next few years I’d bet it would be another merger between 2or3 ECNL-R teams. Villarreal/LMVSC or something like that. Unless MLSNext got rid of Alexandria. Maybe they’d pick them up as a single Club.

It looks like ECNL is trying to take over the market share currently held by other leagues like EDP by accepting every halfway established club and putting them in their lower tier league. I bet ECNL goes further and creates even more localized leagues for the B teams of those ECNL-RL clubs.

The longer this goes on the more of a joke it becomes.

Is there an official statement from ECNL somewhere to collaborate this statement?

True, but the trend in Northern Virginia is now to have fewer ECNL teams. ECNL thinks Virginia is performing poorly because it is oversaturated with top teams. So I wouldn't expect many NL "promotions" any time soon.

From their application - "NOTE: If your club is currently participating in the ECNL Regional League, there is not need to resubmit an
application for ECNL consideration. Performance (on-field and off-field) in the ECNL Regional League is regularly
assessed by the league."

So it seems like a pathway to ECNL based on performance, unless the club does not want to commit to ECNL.

If a club gets RL, does that mean it's likely do get NL at some point in the near future? Or do some clubs just hang in RL indefinitely? I think some clubs in the area have/had only RL so I am curious what the path has been there. Thank you.
