I inquired if one of my students, who was absent for over 10 days, would be removed. I was told that because one teacher or substitute had not marked the student absent (the default is "present") for a single period on a single day, nothing could happen. Clearly, this was an error as the student would probably not have attended a random 4th period on just one day. Rather than look into it or have the teacher correct the error, the spirit of the policy was ignored.

Unless teachers and substitutes are 100% accurate with recording absences (70 in a row out of 70), the policy won't apparently be enforced at my school.

It is all lip service. At my school, nothing is happening to students who are absent for 10+ consecutive days.
