The Homeowner's Guide to Managing a Renovation

I checked out “Restoring Your Historic House” by Scott Hanson from DCPL and it’s very detailed and helpful. Covers various structural and floor plan issues, but also give specific design suggestions (tile, light fixtures, colors). It’s been useful to see examples of design decisions that are more historically consistent (vs all the Instagram stuff).

Good list, OP. I'd add Terence Conran's House book.

I really love Patterns of Home: the 10 essentials of enduring design.

I also like the Not So Big House you mentioned, OP.

The first Erin Gates book is helpful.

Terence Conran's books are a bit dated but still classic. Also good for small spaces because of the European perspective.
