I’m a hater. My driveway has a ‘20 Toyota 4Runner and a ‘17 Toyota Avalon. Boringly reliable, and I don’t need my vehicles to try to convince the world I’m a somebody.

I don't understand them. They ride so rough and they're always in the shop.

New land rovers are problem ridden but back in the day, they were easier to fix, very versatile and were used by the border patrols in difficult areas and even in winter conditions, United Nations peacekeepers, etc.

DC has lots of snobs and politically correct folk, and Land Rover is the perfect car for folks who are loaded yet don't want to be like everyone else of such means and driving commonplace bimmers and benzes.

Echoing what everyone else has said. They're terrible vehicles. They are only owned by people who are warped by a need to project status over utility or genuine quality. When I see someone driving a Range or Land Rover, I judge.

They really are awful vehicles. Land Rover/Range Rover hasn’t made a decent vehicle in this century.

This. It was my dream car when I was young, DH gifted one to me and we spent easily 4,000 every time it was in the repair shop. New engine, etc. The service engine light was always on, always. So thankful to get rid of it (sold it to a nice man from Florida who loved the model and knew of its' difficulties but liked tinkering with the engines) and we will NEVER purchase a Land Rover/Range Rover again. Never. Consider it one of our worst financial decisions.

Curious what you went with after you sold it.

I don’t know but when I was growing up in Florida it was also the *it* car of the UMC moms, so it’s not just this area.

Every 4th car in NWDC, Bethesda, Chevy Chase etc. is a Range/Land Rover. The drivers typically look the same, usually white, well to do, and in their ~40s/50s. I haven't seen them in any other major American city. NYC? No. Boston? No. Miami? No. LA? No. SF? No. Seattle? No. Denver? No. Chicago? No. So why is this car so popular here?
