Does anyone know how current the Naviance scattergrams are?

An important nuance when looking at Naviance and the schools your child is considering is that Naviance does not break it down by major / school that students are applying to.
Your child may have a dot in a sea of green - but if they are applying to a highly sought after major or school within the university, you need to adjust.
Naviance is a starting point.

For schools with an acceptance rate of greater than ~ 25%, scattergrams were spot on.

For schools with an acceptance rate of less than 25%, the other items that are not reflected on the scattergram play a significant role in the decision and the scattergram just tells you if you are even in the game.

Yes, it was accurate as far as scattergrams for our FCPS school. Did not bother applying to schools where at his GPA/SAT, there was nothing but red X. Got into all schools where he was within a sea of greens (with one exception), got one acceptance and one WL (Va Tech) where it was a mixed bag of red and green with his stats. There was one school where he was at 75% mark for both GPA and SAT and he got WL. That was a surprise.

OP here. I was asking if the scattergrams are accurate. Thank you for clarifying

Nope. My kid was well above and to the right of his ED1 pick (Villanova) plus his application was strong in a lot of other ways, but was rejected. The only kids accepted there (public HS) this year were legacy.

He aimed much lower ED2 and got in.

The only other schools he heard from were likelies and got into all.

Yep- same here: got admitted to all Targets and Safety; rejected by the two reaches (pretty high reaches).

Same poster. I'm talking about the scattergrams.

When you are asking "was naviance accurate" do you meant on the overview tab where Naviance categorizes the school OR do you mean that you looked at the scattergram for you school and your child's results were as expected given the dots around them?

Same here, except for the high reaches (Ivies/near Ivies).
You mean he got some surprise acceptances?

Parent of a junior, trying to nail down the college list with my son…
Was Naviance accurate or directionally correct for your child this year?
