Do they only pick a certain number of kids per school?

A school in Vienna or McLean may have more qualified kids than Springfield or Alexandria.


They keep it very close to the best if there are soft caps. They strenuously deny hard caps.

And their goal since 2020 has been to give each kid a peer group at their school. If AAP at one center is equivalent Gen Ed at another school that isn’t bothering them. They don’t put it exactly that way but close.

Op here. For reference, I had one kid who scored around 141 and another who scored 145 I think on the cogat, which qualified both to be in pool. Both my kids did not do as well on the NNAT. I want to say they scared around 120 and were in the 89th percentile, which would not have put them in pool. A few years ago, you only needed to do well on one of the tests, not both.

I have two kids already in AAP but they were admitted before Covid. Back then, they had to score well in either the NNAT or Cogat. The cutoff was also county wide back then, not by school. I believe now they take both the cogat and nnat and average the two? I saw on the other thread that people are posting iready scores. Do they also count those as well?
