So they are able to affect just one person's eyes, not their brain. That makes sense.

Their technology is so far ahead of ours that essentially it’s no different than magic to us. It’s like if we tried to explain air travel to a caveman—he wouldn’t have the foggiest notion what we were talking about, even if we explained it clearly. It’s very convenient for the show because then they don’t have to explain it to the audience!

If the aliens cannot read minds, how do they get into people's minds like when they show only specific people a specific countdown, or torture them with person-specific visions?
