I can see this being the case…but is the opportunity to sit on a college sideline really worth giving up these prime years to sit on an ECNL sideline?

Training with a good coach and top level (local) players 6hrs per week and getting plenty touches is very valuable.
Playing less than 30 minutes in a game with few touches not as important for development.

List some of the horrendous teams and explain in soccer specific details what makes them so

You don't know what you're talking about.

Why would a player feel like they "missed out" on playing in ECNL when it's generally considered to be 2nd tier to MLS Next?

That's like driving a Ferrari but wishing you drove a dump truck. It doesn't make sense.

Also depends on position. Typically the starting roster is set. And then some positions sub more than others. Strong starting defenders usually play all game whereas strong starting MF might play 70% of game.

Depends on club/team

Are starting lineups for these teams pretty steady? That is, perhaps 2/3 start and play all games while the other third are regularly subbed or don’t get much playing time?

Is the roster different every week?

Or prob more likely, it will depend on the club and team?

Thanks!
