Just send a certified letter and/or an email to the admissions office stating that you are withdrawing your application because you have been accepted ED to another school.

Public universities are not a concern if applying as a state resident under ED rules.

I agree, some it hard. My daughter withdrew from Rochester and she got accepted anyway.

Many schools make it hard. My DD had to email the Cornell regional rep, she was deferred ED and there was no way on the portal she could find to withdraw her app.

For one school my son tried and the process was so cumbersome just gave up. It was at a safety so we did not feel as if he was messing up another students opportunity or the school's stats. The school had rolling admission and he declined as soon as the acceptance came.

Indiana (Kelley, specifically.) There is no button on the portal, nor is an email address listed in the portal. My son hunted through some old emails and emailed the local rep to decline. She never replied and he STILL receives invitations from them, two months later.

It’s totally NOT a big deal, just decline and you’re done.

This but it really sucks when people do this. Even if there were 19 other apps, this is a simple task and should have been done.

It doesn’t really suck. It’s a small mistake that doesn’t hurt anyone. This admissions and decline will either be part of the decline that the institution expected, or it will mean that the spot goes to someone on the waitlist who really wanted it.

Who cares. Decline and move on.

He’s totally fine. Seriously, calm down. This is a non-issue. He just needs to go into the portal where he was accepted and decline the admittance. He doesn’t need to talk to his counselor or anyone else. Just take care of it.

My DS has really messed up and is panicking. He forgot to withdraw 1 application after he got into his ED. He took care of all of the others but somehow missed this one. He only realized when they sent him an acceptance email.

He has already committed to ED and will attend. But he is now terrified they will rescind his offer.

I said he needs to contact the school ASAP and withdraw now. I think he should also talk to his counselor at school in case there is anything else to be done.

Is there anything else he can do to fix this? And is he likely to lose his ED school for this?
