They have to be able to sing most of the songs themselves. I don't want to hear talk-singing or the other members of the band singing their iconic lyrics.

Some bands/singers/performers still have their voices, and don't try to perform as if they are in their 20's when they are clearly not.

Madonna should take note, because from what I have seen, she not only makes people wait hours too long, she also can't sing that well, and tries to move likes she is decades younger, which just looks silly.

Which is too bad, because I am sure she could still pull it off, if she took those factors into consideration and made roper amendments for her 65 something years.

There is a way she could do it, and still make money, but I know people who bought day of show tickets for cheap during her most recent tour, because people are tired of the aforementioned. I actually am not interested in seeing her, for the same reasons, and I would be a perfect target audience.

Meh why not, gives us oldsters something to do.
Saw KISS last year on their ‘final’ tour and were still rockin’ at 70+

They were at a festival I attended last year - apparently he’s the only original touring anymore.

I saw Brian Wilson on the Pet Sounds anniversary tour and once more since then (took my mom) and I though they did a great job making accommodations for his age and abilities—original Beach Boy Al Jardine’s son Matt took over singing in the higher ranges that BW’s voice can’t reach anymore and the team of musicians was fabulous.

Madonna needs to give it up. It’s sad, because she was such an icon for so long. But her schtick doesn’t work anymore.

I saw rod Stewart with my parents a few years ago (2017, I think) and he oddly was able to pull off his performance then. I worried about him breaking a hip, but he did his thing.

I would love to see the Boss one more time.

I don't really have an opinion, but my 70-something parents have been really disappointed by some of their favorite performers in their later years and think it's time to give it up. Most notably, they thought the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan gave really poor performances.

I think it depends. Mick Jagger somehow pulls it off to me - Madonna not as much and I think it's because he still moves so well and she seems stiff and honestly a little uncomfortable overall.

Madonna just seems to be doing family karaoke these days, she's no longer particularly professional as a performer.

They do it at their own risk. Madonna is a good example, there are millions of them out there. While they surround themselves with "yes-men", they absolutely cannot outrun the critics.

Do you think it is sad when you see Madonna doing motions like a younger version of herself? I don’t mean this for all artists, and don’t mean it as an ageism issue. It’s more - we did things when we were young: dressed a certain way, stayed out later, etc and then a season ends on that and we move on. Of course it’s a big money maker and an art but it’s more the gyrating type of thing that strikes me as a little odd.
