+1. This poor kid and their poor family. May you vultures never know.

Honest question. Do you not see any value in knowing about this loss so that parents can discuss it with their children? The students are already talking about it. It's well documented that suicide within a community can increase the risk of other suicides, so these events are something a parent, especially a parent of a student who is already struggling with mental health, should be aware of.

Schools notify actual parents of these incidents.

I think these sad incidents are a reminder to parents to keep in touch with their kids and be aware of any mental health issues.

Extremely sad. I have a kid there. They are doing well academically, but I do worry about what if their s/o breaks up with them. They took a breakup so hard in HS.

I have another DC who has anxiety and a bit of depression, now in HS, and I really worry about this DC going off to college. They aren't that strong academically.

Always something to worry about with kids, no matter how old they get.

NP. The OP said that her DD witnessed the incident in the fall when another student jumped from the stadium. It's so sad all around. I'm sending my sympathy to the family on their loss and to all others struggling to process this loss.

Whatever that kid was going through should not have ended like this.

It's obnoxious and offensive to speculate on what kind of problem this unknown person had.

I’m so sorry.

Please encourage your child to get on a therapy schedule now. That is traumatic.

Where was the speculation?

I’m so sorry for that student’s family and for your daughter as well. I hope she’s also doing OK.
