I think it's a once in a lifetime thing. As in you should only have to wait in those lines once in your lifetime. But my kids love love love it so we went back this year and the rain actually made the lines much shorter!

We had a great time. It wouldn’t have been fun if you were keen for the perfect photo, but if you were happy with rain boots and muddy clothes the volunteers were amazing, and the 3-4 y/o’s were enchanted.

I never ceases to amaze me how much torture people will go through for a photo op and the ability to say they went to this thing.

Are you a Christian? I'd be "weirded out" if it were on Easter Sunday!

“Weirded out”? What a strange reaction.

It has always been on Easter Monday, since the Rutherford Hayes presidency.

In the late 1800s.

There are a lot of schools closed on Easter Monday.

President Hayes started the tradition on Easter Monday and it stuck ever since!

Many schools are out on Easter Monday. It is always on the Monday. How could you have it on Sunday when families are at church and celebrating together? Do you understand how many volunteers this event takes? No way could they get enough if it was held on Easter Sunday.

We took each of our 3 kids once - and the last time was today. The weather held up and we were early enough that they still had all good stuff and it wasn’t too crowded. Our kids were off of school today, but we always took the kids when they were young enough that missing a day of school was no big deal. It’s perfect for 4-7 year olds!

We wore snow pants with rain boots a few years ago bc it poured rain and was like a cold 50 degrees. Sounds crazy, but we were dry abd not miserable like most people who weren't equipped.

Everything is outside with little shelter, minus a few tents for crafts, but lines are long for everything so you're out in the elements . Everything moves really slow, be prepared for crowds.

We’re still going today. I’ve heard from many people that going exactly once is great— and the opportunity to go even once doesn’t come up often!

I’d wear rain jackets and boots and be prepared to get muddy/wet.

Nope. Not worth it. Not even close

If you’re going for the treats, no it’s not worth it. If you’re going for the once in a lifetime experience of being at the White House Easter egg roll, that has been an existence since the late 1870s, Then of course it’s worth it. How many people can say they went to this…well many of us in this area, but not across the country.

My teen was just saying this morning how much she enjoyed going many years ago. She played tennis on the White House tennis courts.

It is raining and wet today. Is white house easter egg roll worth it to go today? We are new, do kids get special treats or eggs from this event compared to other egg hunts organized from church/families?
