I recently test drove a lot of cars, including the Mazda CX-30. I liked the looks, interior and layout. But the driver's seat was too small/uncomfortable for me and the rear seating too cramped.

They’re a middling economy brand with a deservedly tiny fraction of the market. There’s absolutely nothing extraordinary about them. The company is still trying to ride the coattails of the RX7 and Miata but they haven’t done anything impressive since the early 90’s.

Cx5 is one of the most popular cars on the market. It may not be for you, but they are popular.

In fairness, Car & Driver, Motortrend, and R & T think highly of Mazda as well.

In my experience, they are more fun to drive than any other mainstream brand—Toyota, Honda, the Koreans or any US manufacturer.

However, Mazda is far worse than many of those brands when it comes to interior design, comfort, and fit/finish.

If accurate, nicely weighted steering and cornering makes you happy, you’ll like Mazdas.

If you’re more concerned with cargo space, cup holders and infotainment, Mazda’s not for you.

People have told me to look at Mazda because they handle as well as any car that is not a luxury brand. This is what I found at the dealer:

CX5 - sat in the driver's seat and my leg was flush against the center console. I mean, like right on it. Not enough room.

CX50 - interior looked cheap and was all black w/no color breakup

CX30 - gigantic rear pillar. How can anyone see out of it?

Why they design vehicles like this is beyond me. Any other mainstream brands that offer great performance?
