Has anyone stayed here? Apparently it’s part of a hospitality training program. It gets good reviews. Thoughts from Montreal experts?

I have also stayed at Le Germaine and enjoyed the hotel. The immediate area feels pretty downtown/business, but it is close to McGill and not that far from Saint Laurent and the Plateau.

I suggest Plateau Mont-Royal, which borders the Village. Away from the main tourist areas but still very central.

OP here—thank you. I’ve heard this is a great neighborhood but am having a hard time finding a good hotel. Any recommendations?

I lived in the Plateau. There aren't any big hotels. You can try to find bed and breakfasts.
Or consider staying in a hotel on Sherbrooke, there are many hotels eg Ritz.
This puts you in a quieter area north of downtown but close enough to Plateau, Musee de beaux arts etc....

I've stayed at Hotel Le Germain near McGill and it was very nice. Also stayed at LHotel in the Old town which was very interesting/quirky - full of pop art collected by the owner who was the founder of Guess.

Have never stayed there, but I’ve been eyeing this place for my next trip: http://www.aubergedelafontaine.com/

Stay off of St Laurent Blvd; in Mile End; around La Fontaine Park, or deeper into the Plateau around Ave Mont Royal.

Best hotel in Montreal is Le Mount Stephen. They have impeccable service and a great restaurant.

OP here, adding that this is for a summer visit, if that matters.

We’ve been once before and stayed in the Old City. This time would prefer a less-touristy area, ideally with lots of shops and restaurants, very walkable with easy access to the Metro; we loved staying in the 11th in Paris, if that helps.

What neighborhoods should we look at? Any hotel recommendations? Not looking for airbnbs. Thanks!
