You will like uber more than cabs in DC.

It is not easy post-COVID. Nothing like NYC. I lived in DC in the aughts and it was simple then…but things have changed.

I was there last fall and the hotel concierge told me it was best to download Uber. I found that to be true and I hate Uber.

There are often cabs in front of big hotels but otherwise it’s not easy!

Use Uber. Cabs suck in DC.

You can always get one at DCA or union station. You can generally get one by the house or Senate office buildings on weekdays. Downtown maybe but you may wait a while. More residential neighborhoods it's almost definitely going to be quicker to order a Lyft or Uber.

I think a lot of drivers switched to Uber/retired/found other gigs/etc when Covid hit and they haven't fully returned in the numbers we had pre-pandemic.

Yes, and I actually find them more reliable than Ubers these days at least during busy times. If you are coming in the Union Station there is a line of them there waiting for passengers.

^^oh yeah, and Yellow Cabs aren’t yellow anymore. Go figure. You have to look closely at the company listed on the door. There is a huge variation in DC cabs.

New Yorker here. Will be there next week. Is it easy to hail a city cab like in NYC? I don’t love Uber.
