Just don't do what my mom did push me on the bus laughing at me. It was terrible.

My son is almost 3, and has been in pre-school two days a week since September. He still cries at every drop off, just not as dramatically these days. I'm saying this not to scare you, but so that you know your kid is not unusual if it does last more than a few weeks!

My daughter cried for 8 weeks, then it switched to crying when I picked her up.
She stopped for a few months, then began again.
I stopped walking her all the way in, it made it easier for her.

You’re at peak learning period in his little developmental life, seriously consider EIBI.

It sometimes takes 2-3 weeks. If it persists for a long time, however, consider the possibility that something is off at the preschool.

My son was never good with change, he'd even cry when he moved "up" a room at the same daycare for a couple of weeks. And when he was just shy of 4 we had to change daycare centers, where took a month before he stopped crying at drop off. I didn't think he'd ever stop and was at my wit's end. Thankfully the teachers were so patient and assured me he quickly settled down after I left. He ended up having an amazing year at that daycare before leaving for kindergarten.

It's been a week. It gets easier. Sometimes, it gets harder, like after a break or an illness. But for the most part, it gets easier. As long as he stops once you leave, I wouldn't worry.

Honestly, it took a long time for us, maybe two to three weeks. And then it took several weeks even after that to get used to preschool and not be nervous at drop off! But then, maybe three to four months in, the opposite opened— my kid runs in to see friends without saying goodbye and gets sad at pick up because they’re having too much fun!

I know it’s sad right now but it’s really normal and can last awhile! And then you’ll barely remember the days when it was hard.

My 3yo son just started preschool last week and every single day there have been tears and drama at dropoff (and just getting ready to go). I think he ultiamtley has a good time as he seems happy at pickup and the teachers haven't reported any issues. How long did it take everyone's kid to adjust and get over the crying? It's heartbreaking and not to mention really difficult getting ready and out the door! Should add this is his first time in a group/class setting (we previously had a nanny share) and he's also autistic, but on the milder side.
