It takes a lot of time to paint them correctly and add top coat. And if they use quality paint and top coat, you are paying for it.

It should indeed be less.

No, lol. A pedicure takes about 25-30 mins if you aren't getting extras like masks, callous remover, or whatever. Painting nails, at least for an experienced nail tech, takes 2-3 minutes tops. And the cost of the polish, in the context of the overhead of running a nail salon where you have to have a lot of polish on hand, is next to nothing.

This level of cheapness likely reflects a personality problem. Stop being cheap and obsessing over such things so much that you post on the internet about it. Seriously. It's not good.

Since men typically don’t get nail polish, what do they charge for a male soak and trim? Your price should be similar.

At the salon, it’s more than just clipping nails. It’s doing the cuticles, dealing with dead skin, and so forth. That’s hard to DYI too if you have any sort of limitation like carpal tunnel which makes it hard for me, or if you are pregnant. Also I do work while getting them done.

Lots of people allow their nails to “breathe” in the winter while wearing close toed shoes and don’t get polish.

And I often go with friends who get polish and I am always done way before them not even counting their drying time.

I sometimes don't get polish in the winter to "give my toenails a rest."

I still get the same amount of time from the technician. If the tech is skilled applying polish, which most are, that takes very little time anyhow. I'm happy to pay the same amount.

Genuine question: why don’t you get polish?

It's not less. Applying the polish is not the hard part. Anyway, what is the point of a pedicure with no polish unless you are a man?

Where I used to live, if I got a pedicure with no polish, the price would be reduced. Everywhere I’ve been in DC they charge the same. It doesn’t seem right, it is using less product and takes less time.

Does anyone know of any good places that do charge less for this? I am in Upper NW.

Thanks!
