I am new to yoga. I’ve been going once a week for now. I always knew yoga was a good workout and people are strong but for me, I didn’t think I wanted to do it because it’s slower and I get focused on the calorie burn.

But I found this class and instructor and I love it. I want to add more of it to my routine. My other workouts are strength and boxing. I hate running and the treadmill.

But I am a high stress person and I think the yoga is good for me and also I am trying to re think my movement and not be focused on calories.

Yoga makes you feel good so I can see how someone would describe it as addictive. It's good feelings in your body, why not? There's no downside. I've been doing some form of yoga for almost 30 years but not in any kind of ultra-serious way. I like to feel all the feels so I prefer a slower vinyasa practice or do a Yin class after having already exercised. I also like to add in all the sensory bits possible like an eye pillow, a sound bath (if your teacher uses a singing bowl or similar) or scented oils/sprays. I don't care about doing handstands or poses that require a lot of strength but I am ultra bendy and can do the splits at 55. Yoga has totally fixed my terrible posture also. I have no back pain going into the second half of my life so that's something.

I started practicing two years ago at a studio and go at least twice a week. It's been so therapeutic for me and I'm amazed I've stuck with it! I've never really gotten into doing it at home, though. I've improved but am definitely not advanced, but that is not my goal. My goal is improving my own strength, balance, and mindfulness. It does help me maintain my weight since I take active classes like Vinyasa. Hot Vinyasa is my favorite and I do sort of crave it!

It’s completely addicting. A good addiction. Changed my life over 20 years ago.

This post made me smile because in a way, I feel like I have always been and will always be a beginner -- and I think that's how yoga is.

A nice thing about a home practice is that you can do it for shorter amounts of time. I don't have time to go to an hour-long studio class more than once a week. But I'll do a 30-minute YouTube video or some self-directed practice a couple of times a week.

I've been practicing yoga for nearly 20 years. Never did any sports before yoga either. I could not touch my toes when I started in 2007, now I can do splits, handstands, forearm balances, etc.

I do yoga 6x a week most weeks. I do not run but I will walk a mile or two a few times a week as well (outdoors/treadmill). I generally follow a vegetarian diet as well. I'm mid 40s and the fittest/thinnest out of our neighbors and friends.

Agree that it is completely addicting. I like to say that yoga is my therapy.

Is it your only workout? Have you lost weight doing it?

No, I also run.

I have lost fat and gotten very toned alternating hot yoga and 3-5 mile runs. I eat a very clean diet as well. I wouldn’t say the scale has dropped, but that’s not what I care about. I am in my mid 40s and have a fanatic body.

I am a beginner and I love the bliss I feel after a yoga session. I do the online with Adrienne sessions. I feel like I should practice everyday to maintain the feeling I get currently once a week. How often do you practice yoga? How long were you a beginner?
