My kid hit “submit” in submitting the deposit at 7:59am on 5/1. OP, your kid has great options - let him work it out at his own timing. If something happens and he can’t visit, he can still watch more YouTube videos, talk to other students or just go with his gut. Don’t rush him or put pressure on him.

My DD and I are visiting a couple schools this weekend, but I was clear with her that she can’t make a decision until we see the financial papers. We are dealing with the same time issues, and just having her visit when she can. At this point, she knows she has almost 2 months still to make the decision. She’s keeping a pro and con list and just believing that everything will work out.

I think if you can just keep reminding him that he can be happy at any of his final choices (which I’m sure is true), then you can ease your anxiety. MOST seniors will not make the decision until all papers are in hand- and as we all know, that’s going to be awhile!

My kid visited no colleges during Covid and showed up at move in having never seen his college in person. He loves where he landed. There are so many places they can thrive. There's not just one answer. Don't worry about visits if he doesnt have the time.

This. Also, many decision deadlines are being moved to mid May because of the FAFSA nonsense. But even if it isn’t, there’s still plenty of time. Back off your kid.

Are you attending an Admitted Student Day or traveling on your own? I found AS days very helpful to both student, as well as parents. My oldest has long graduated, but I had to Fed Ex a deposit check because he waited until the last day possible 😫

My DC committed 3 days before the 5/1 deadline last year. Very common. One of DC’s friends was still going back and forth on their choice 4/30. I would say most of DC’s friends “announced” their school choice the 2 weeks prior to 5/1. I don’t know if this is common at all schools, but this is what we saw last year at my DC’s local private school. Of course, there are always kids that got into their ED choice early but for others it is common to take your time. Good luck and enjoy the opportunity to consider several great choices! Accepted student days are a lot of fun.

Of course they cut it this close OP. That’s what accepted students days are for. Last year my DS decided at 6:00 pm on 4/30.

I'm pp who's dc is deciding between UGA Wisconsin and possibly Michigan. He is visiting all again mid to late April. Do people really cut it this close? I'm having such anxiety about the rushed timing, or if he gets sick and can't visit when he plans and him not being able to decide. I can't believe it's come down ot the wire. He has travel and a senior spring break trip and then a sports thing he doesn't want to miss first weekend in April. Do these second visits and/or tours once they're admitted really help seal the deal? He visited both a year ago w just us went out briefly. The return visits are for games, meeting kids in frat, one seeing tour of business school, and I guess just more overnight w kids who are students there.
