I went to a tapas style restaurant as a group
Of 8 20-something women about a decade ago. The server came up right after we got our menus and goes in an overly friendly, coke-head way, “I have some fantastic ideas for your table! Would you like me to order for you to give you an amazing experience of our best options??”

We were in a friendly, party mood so we were like well, no we’d like to order our own food probably, but happy to hear your suggestions! He suggested like a million things, enough to feed 50. We were like thanks, we’ll keep that in mind, but for starters can we put in our drink orders? And every drink order we gave him he’d try to change. Like “I’ll have a bud light” “you know, you should try the miller lights instead, they’re 50’cents cheaper” “I’ll have a strawberry margarita” “may I suggest our white wine sangria instead?” Like every single item we tried to order, he tried to change. It was so insane.

Finally as we were TRYING to order food- he was like “you don’t like my suggestions do you? I must be the worst waiter ever”
And tried to sit down at our table and tell us his woes. It was so creepy and we saw him being a normal waiter to the table down from us so it was just him trying to do something weird with our table if young women. We eventually called the manager over, our entire dinner was free, and we got a new waiter (who we of course still tipped on the expected bill before anyone comes at me)

This doesn’t compare, but my husband, daughter and I went to a restaurant where they failed to bring my husband’s appetizer, entree or dessert. It was like he was invisible.
