Would it change your mind if a different friend drove who has been driving for 3 years, including his family on very long interstate trips (due to a parent's medical limitations)?

Mine did it for beach week after HS graduation. He was a few months shy of 18.

The combination of the long drive plus friends would make it a no from me.

This is where I am. DC has had a license for a year and has made the 3.5 hour trip from here to NJ multiple times, but that’s with me as the passenger. Friends are a different story.

18 as long as their car is reliable and they have no tickets and no history of bad decision making when it comes to car stuff.

I will probably let my daughter this summer after 6 months driving. She’s a pretty careful driver and already drives on freeways, so not sure it’s any worse. 6m is when she’s allowed to drive with friends at 16.

Not for my teen. That would be an accident waiting to happen. He has ADHD and knows he has to take it slow when it comes to driving. By his mid-20s, he should be a more reliable driver.

Same. But I’d be fine with train or flying.

We let our teen driver do it after two years with a license. Honestly; it never came up prior to this so never had to think about it.

We did make sure all parents knew the teen was driving and no other adults accompanying and they had to email back they understood.

He has been driving for a year, but it is pretty far away. I am really not sure when it's appropriate.

At what point would you let a teen drive 3 hours away with friends?
